Many home management companies will simply provide a list of vendors or warm introductions to their partners, which means they can’t actual control the most important parts of home services: the customer experience.  And marketplaces can provide you with options for technicians, but you still need to deal with them yourself.

 

What we offer is a relationship. We know your home, your systems, and you. Through that knowledge and trust we can react much quicker to provide solutions and peace of mind. No more scouring reviews, posting jobs, fielding calls, giving directions, arguing over opaque pricing.

 

We are like a property manager for your very own home.

While Birdwatch and a home warranty might both relate to repairs in the home, they solve two very distinct use cases. 

A home warranty is fundamentally an insurance product. You’re paying in advance to (hopefully) limit the damage if something big happens. If you are risk adverse, home warranties can be a great thing (in concept, at least). 

 

But even in their best case scenario — where the home warranty company actually says yes and happens to send a great technician — home warranties really only apply to a few key systems when they break

 

They’re not going to hang a new ceiling fan, powerwash a deck, paint the kids’ playroom, do preventative maintenance, or actually get to know you and your home and how we can make life easier. 

If a home warranty is like medical insurance, then Birdwatch is more like a personal trainer, nutritionist and personal assistant wrapped in one. 

A home warranty is about protecting for the downside. Birdwatch is all about making the upside possible. 

The Copilot+ plan is designed for members with long to-do lists or frequent service needs (and is admittedly our most popular plan!). The presence of the monthly service allowance allows for a discounted rate on the core Birdwatch program.

 

There is some flexibility in that you can roll over an allowance to a subsequent month, but it specifically does not function as credits that can be ‘banked’. Our team and technicians are at the ready for quicker response times on smaller jobs than most contractors you will encounter, and we’ve built this membership (and the Autopilot tier) with that in mind.

 

If your needs change, or you have a lower frequency of service need, than the Copilot plan might be a better fit. That’s why we have different plans, to offer something for everyone!

For a normal request, your home manager will respond within a few business hours with any follow-up questions or next steps. For urgent needs, we’ll be in touch within 15 minutes.

 

Most run-of-the-mill repairs can be completed within 72 hours (if that’s convenient for you, sometimes members intentionally schedule well into the future). Sometimes specialty work or jobs that require materials to be ordered can set a longer timeline.

 

In all cases, you’ll always be updated with when and how your request is progressing through the Birdwatch app and web portal.
